Steven Navarro is a 20-year-old English-Communication Arts major at St. Mary’s University. He is experienced in digital and film photography, videography, and other digital media including graphic design and live streaming.
When Navarro is not at school, he volunteers at Westover Hills Assembly of God where he work with middle school, high school and college student. Through this church ministry, he gained experience organizing events, speaking to large crowds, teaching small groups and managing public relations. Navarro found he can utilize his ability to communicate through various platforms to raise awareness about modern-day slavery. His involvement with non-profits such as International Justice Mission, Wellspring International and Slavery Footprint has further developed his communication skills. Navarro is also active in music. Besides playing his church’s youth band, Navarro formed Tantivity, a four-piece alternative rock band.
Navarro’s involvement with communications is not only seen in his pursuit of a communication’s degree, but in all areas of his life. His immersion in digital technology provides a constant exposure to platforms that allow him to reach a target audience, continually sharpening his effectiveness withing the communication field.
